Report

I believe that own cultural values and beliefs shapes service delivery within healthcare segment, as it impacts the way people think and feel related to their health issues and from where they seek healthcare support and responding to suggestions for the lifestyle changes. I belongs to Indian Hindu culture where our belief is centred to “Karma” that implies law of cause and effect. In our culture religious practices, spirituality plays a crucial role in everyday activities. In our culture major practices we follow are worship, meditation, yoga and sacrificial rites. Therefore, I feel that yoga and meditation helps in providing inner healing which promotes overall wellbeing. Further, astrology plays a pivotal role in ensuring health and wellbeing. For instance astrological remedies like herbal medicines along with spiritual practices to balance body energy helps in maintaining healthy lifestyle. Thus I feel that treating spiritual base of illness through Ayurveda, praying helps in ensuring quick healing process.

Reflecting on cultural values and their influence on healthcare practices can help students develop a deeper understanding of culturally safe nursing. Students who need additional academic guidance can explore best assignment help Australia to strengthen their understanding of healthcare concepts and reflective writing.

Therefore, culture perspective has influence over my understanding and practices in health, healing and wellbeing. For instance I also feel that herbal medicines helps in maintaining wellbeing of person while it also have less or no side effect as compared to allopathy medicines. Also in my culture we respect elders and respect their decision. Thus in my nursing practice I may encourage family members to involve in treatment intervention for making better treatment choices. I also feel that collaboration in health promotes wellbeing of patient through patient centred care and informed collaborative decisions.

Relate

Referring to my Hindu culture where focus has been placed on balancing spiritual practices and compliance to moral principles that contributes towards robust healing process. This value aligns with SEWB model where it also attempts for balancing wellness with country, culture and wider community that supports individual with natural healing process. Further, in my culture cultural awareness is needed when assessing patient, likewise SEWB model emphasis on cultural knowledge to assess person and providing them safer care environment. However, in my culture we values karma, dharma and spiritual liberation which is central to healing process. While SEWB centralises healing process through deep connection with nature, ancestral knowledge and community connectedness. Despite of this different both provides holistic care approach by involving parents, carers in treatment plan and proceeding with culturally safe practices.

The principle of SEWB entails that indigenous people view wellbeing in a holistic context where they identify complex interplay of mind, spirit, family, nature and culture that assures wellbeing and health. My belief related to spiritual healing is aligning with this principle, where I also believe that yoga and meditation in nature helps in relaxing mind and frees body from negative energy that affects overall wellbeing. Diversity principle of SEWB suggests that aboriginals generally values diversity in healthcare system as they believe that it helps in delivering culturally safe and robust healthcare services. This principle aligns with my cultural belief where I also feel that diversity in healthcare helps in providing comprehensive care to people in need. For instance I believe that unity between mind and body can be achieved through diverse human perspective that helps in building connection between soul and body leading to better healing process.

Cultural safety is all about fostering an environment which is safe to aboriginal and Torres Islander people, it implies that there is no threatening atmosphere, challenges as well as neglect of their identity and experience. The future action I will take to provide culturally safe services are discussed below-

Promoting cultural awareness: Cultural awareness helps in informing own practices related to cultural safe healthcare delivery. I will ensure to develop awareness related to indigenous culture in order to remain careful while providing services to them. For instance understanding their perception related to shared decision guides me to involve carer and families as well within decision making process. This will help in preparing a plan that tailored with all needs and preferences of individual and their family. Likewise, I feel that cultural awareness will allow me to adjust my communication style and body language accordingly which do not offend any cultural aspect of these people.

Executing diversity and inclusion programs: It is crucial to design a program that helps in cultivating diversified and inclusive environment in care setting. Developing cultural safety policies: Culturally safety policies are helpful in promoting safety for the indigenous people, it helps in restricting racism, discriminatory action and bullying event against this group. I will work with organisational policy makers to consider diverse perspective of EDI (equity, diversity and inclusivity) to promote cultural safety at workplace. Similarly, policy implementation helps in guiding behaviour of everyone at healthcare and helps in remaining adhered with ethical and legal regulations to serve indigenous people. Therefore, understanding in EDI and other safety policies will let me to provide an atmosphere which is psychological safer to indigenous people and empowering them to actively involved in treatment intervention so that services can be delivered accordingly.

Encourage open communication: Transparency in communication is equally important to foster a safer culture at care setting. Cultural safety is continuous process where it can be strengthen through each individual’s participation. Thus active listening and open communication is needed in nursing profession to ensure that all requirement and concerns of indigenous community are being heard and resolved. For robust delivery of services I will ensure to regularly interact with patient and their family members to listen their concerns and suggestions. This will help me to make adjustment in care plan and tailored it with their needs so that positive outcome of health can be achieved.

Practice accountability: It is identified that culturally safe atmosphere is easier to manage when leadership leads by practical examples to promote equity, diversity and inclusivity. In nursing practice maintaining accountability is crucial aspect, it suggests to remain accountable for own action and practices in healthcare system. In my practice I will ensure to remain accountable for my action taken for indigenous community. For instance in case of discrimination or bullying I will assure to provide transparent report to authorities to provide safety to indigenous people and take action against bully.

Therefore, applying these entire factor in my future nursing practice will help me to delivery culturally safe services to indigenous people.

Understanding cultural awareness, patient autonomy, and inclusive care is essential for future nursing practice. These topics are also relevant when preparing a Healthcare assignment that examines culturally safe services and the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Metal reflection

In this unit, my cognitive ability and emotional being has broadened my knowledge in terms of cultural awareness and broad concept related to Aboriginals and Torres islander people. I have learnt about different concept related to health where I have develop understanding in holistic approach of SEWB model to better understand factors that affects health of indigenous people. This unit has enabled me to reflect on my own culture to understand my values and beliefs that may have influence over my working patterns. By doing this I was able to understand that how Ayurveda, body-mind interplay, spiritual healing plays a vital role in individual’s wellbeing and healing. This helps me to understand cultural aspect of indigenous people where they also feel that body-mind interplay, community interaction; nature exploration helps them in ensuring their wellbeing. Likewise, reflection on own culture has also encouraged me to understand the way decisions are made, for instance in my culture generally elderly makes decision for everyone. However, now I feel that in nursing profession it is crucial to have autonomy in decision making since patient’s health is associated with it.

Further, this cognitive thinking enables me to resonate my cultural values with aborigines’ shared decision making value. As I have learnt that in this community elders one plays a crucial role in making decisions. Therefore for the future nursing practice I will ensure to involve families and carers of the patient in decision making process. This will help them to feel respected and valued which ultimately helps in shaping culturally safe care services aligned with their specific needs and preferences. Furthermore, SEWB model has assisted me to understand how nature plays a crucial role in indigenous people’s life, their values and beliefs are rooted with it. This evokes my emotional being where I also feel the same that nature supports healing process. For instance in my Hindu culture yoga, meditation is common practice for body-mind relaxation. Therefore, in future I will try to link care services to nature for instance I will guide patient to do mind relaxing exercise in countryside by feeling natural breeze, inhaling phytoncides compound released by trees, helps in building strong immunity to fight with any infection and tumours. Thus, reflecting on this unit has helped me to develop awareness related to cultural aspect of indigenous people.

This unit has developed my core understanding in health factors associated with indigenous people’s life. For instance I have learnt that how systemic barriers and racism at healthcare system has made indigenous people reluctant to seek health support. Therefore, in future nursing practice I will assure to provide safer atmosphere to this people which looks inclusive and empowering them to easily share their concerns and expectations. Further, I will ensure that these people are guided under my supervision and have been protected from any kind of discriminatory and bullying event.

Likewise, SEWB allows me to understand health factors of this community that are deeply rooted with their spiritual belief, nature and cultural context. This informs me to shape care services by aligning with their cultural values and enabling them to undergo treatment for their wellbeing. My cognitive ability has enabled me to understand the reason why indigenous people avoid seeking systemic support because of their history of facing discrimination and racism. Therefore, in my future nursing practice I will try to develop therapeutic relationship with indigenous patient and will assist them to exercise their human rights for accessing better healthcare services. Further, adherence to organisational policies and regulation will help me to report any bullying and discriminatory case happened against this community.
